A Global Claims Processing Platform
Verisk
Industry: Property Insurance
Role: Lead Designer
In 2018, Verisk set out to build a claims processing platform tailored to the unique needs of South American and European markets after a previous attempt to repurpose its U.S.-based software fell short. These markets required a solution that addressed their specific workflows, regulatory environments, and industry norms. As the lead designer, I conducted extensive research and discovery calls to uncover these critical differences and document the gaps between the U.S., European, and South American markets. This foundational research informed a roadmap that prioritized features designed to meet users’ needs while supporting efficient claims processing.
In collaboration with product and development teams, I created a streamlined workflow and a modern, user-centered UI. The design emphasized simplicity, clarity, and efficiency, setting it apart from Verisk’s decades-old systems. The new platform not only fulfilled the technical requirements but also introduced a contemporary visual design that elevated user satisfaction and competitive positioning in international markets.
The result was Xactimate One, a platform that reduced the average claim life cycle by 17% and opened up global business opportunities for Verisk. Building on the success of this project, I created a unified design language that became the foundation for Verisk’s visual identity. I also pitched and secured funding to develop a comprehensive design system, which was adopted by multiple design teams and influenced the UI for eight other products. This system enhanced consistency, efficiency, and collaboration across Verisk’s portfolio.
